Having come from a dysfunctional family Geoff spent almost a year (at age 13) in one of NSW harshest youth correctional institutions in the late 1960s.  He left home at age 14 to travel Australia. He and his brother Rod (without drivers licenses) drove a weary and rusty 1959 Holden wagon around Australia working at a myriad of jobs, overcoming many hardships and challenges but also learning heaps and having a lot of fun along the way.

Married and a father at 18, Geoff continued to face and overcome life's challenges until in the mid 1970s he decided to join the Army and then applied for and succeeded in being accepted into the elite special forces SAS Regiment based in Perth.

Geoff considers the day he was handed his SAS Sandy Beret as one of the very proudest moments in his life.

It is Geoff's belief that people who are accountable to themselves and who except responsibility are those people who are most likely to succeed – "ownership" is his creed. It is this philosophy that has allowed him to advance from being a being wayward youth with only 16 months of secondary schooling to go on and serve in Australia's most respected special operations force, to gain a university education as an adult and to now lead Australia's fastest growing estate group, RE/MAX WA.

"One hour of life, crowded to the full with glorious action, and filled with noble risks, is worth whole years of those mean observances of paltry decorum, in which men steal through existence, like sluggish waters through a marsh, without either honour or observation." - Sir Walter Scott
